Revolutionary USB 3.1 Type-C interface with VGA video output for use with latest Type-C equipped MacBook and Google Chromebook + other upcoming devices!
2016+ Model MacBook Pro Compatibility Note: The latest 2016 release Macbook Pro has a strict 87W power requirement for connected USB Type-c devices running in alternate mode. Therefore most available USB Type-C video adapter cables, including this Type-C to VGA cable, are not compatible wiith the latest MacBook Pro.
So, it's finally here! The latest USB 3.1 Type-C standard has arrived to revolutionise the conectivity world! "But what exactly is this new version of USB" I hear you say... well let me explain...
USB 3.1 SuperSpeed Type-C: Simplified
With the USB 3.1 Type-C plug, we get a new plug design that is reversible, meaning it inserts with either orientation (no more fiddling for the USB socket in the dark, only to find you have the connector up the wrong way). But physical differences aside, USB 3.1 can now support data transfer speeds up to 10Gbps - that's twice that of USB 3.0.
But when using this new standard as an AV adapter (as seen here) we're not concerned with the data throughput and super-mega-gigaflops it can handle, we want to know if our old AV tech will work with our new found USB interface, and the good news is - Yes it will!
One cable to rule them all
The new USB 3.1 standard lets you interface with HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, Mini-DisplayPort and even VGA - all from a universal Type-C plug design. Just plug in your adapter cable, connect the relevant cable to your display and you're away!
