Featuring a massive 175W of charging power across 6 sockets - 4 x USB-C and 2 x USB-A
Gadget batteries have come a long way in the last decade, with higher density and faster charging than ever before. Likewise, chargers have rushed to keep up with portable tech, and GaN chargers are the latest hot-topic technology, allowing for more economical power delivery in a smaller form factor.
This slick and compact desktop charger provides a range of USB Type-C and USB Type-A outputs capable of anywhere from 20W (most smartphones) to 100W (power-hungry laptops), with a combined total draw of 175W. This means you can, say, four smartphones at super-fast speed, or one laptop and a couple of other devices.
The total combined wattage being delivered is displayed on the read-out, so you can tell at a glance when all devices are full, or see first-hand what each device can accept or which cables are underperforming. The entire charger is compact at just 152mm x 84mm x 21mm, and connects to mains via an IEC C7 cable (included).
We stock a few good USB chargers, and it can be tough to know exactly what you need. This desktop charger is great for when you want an easily accessible charger (rather than bending down to wall sockets every time), or you intend to charge a variety of devices at once.
A multi-device charger like this is also handy if you want to leave your charging cables plugged in and available at all times and just hook up this device or that device as necessary.
This charger is awesome for devices with batteries - think smartphones, laptops, mp3 players, gps trackers. It offers a wide range of fast and super-fast charging speeds on every socket. This charger is not great for devices that are always-on and require uninterrupted power delivery - like a Raspberry Pi.
As with all chargers of this sort, the more devices that are concurrently connected, the lower the total output per socket can be, and you don't get to choose specifically how the 175W is shared. However, with such a high total output, you'll be charging at top speed way more often than not.
Downsides? The LED readout is quite bright, not so great for the bedroom if it's facing your bed. And because it's so small and light, you need to hold it still when plugging and unplugging cables (or use some strong double sided tape). Otherwise, it's one of the most capable and modern chargers we've ever seen!
What is a GaN Charger? (Read our blog!)
Chargers using GaN (Gallium Nitride) chargers waste less power to heat when converting from mains to a power types your gadgets can accept, leading to smaller form factors and lower power bills. GaN chargers are always a good thing to have, but they can come at a price premium. This beefy 175W charger is so small thanks to GaN technology.
