At last - DisplayPort to DVI made easy!

Adapts FROM a DisplayPort computer or laptop TO a DVI-D monitor/screen

Did you know that most new computers have DisplayPort outputs for video that are already compatible with HDMI, DVI and VGA? That's right! Just look for the D++ Dual-Mode logo in your user documentation. If you've got it, then converting the DisplayPort socket for use with non-DisplayPort screens is as easy as this basic cable.

It's a totally passive DP lead with wide compatibility for display resolutions up to 1080p depending on your source and display devices. You also get DPCP compatibility for working with protected content media, and the famous Cable Chick warranty. It's great for pretty much everything short of Eyefinity.

Adapts from D++ DisplayPort source devices to work with digital DVI-D screens for all your video needs up to a maximum of 1920x1080 resolution. This cable is not bi-directional, and does NOT convert DVI to DisplayPort.

Product Specifications:

  • 5 year Cable Chick Warranty
  • Uni-directional, the DisplayPort must be the source device, not the display device!
  • 1.8m Male DisplayPort connector to Male DVI-D connector
  • Perfect for converting a D++ DisplayPort device for use with a DVI display
  • Gold plated connectors for optimal signal transfer
  • Supports DVI-D resolutions such as 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p plus many others.
  • 3.6 Gbps data transfer rate (DVI Single Link Limit)
  • DP connector is approx. 20mm wide x 50mm long (end of cable to tip of connector)
  • DVI connector is approx 37mm wide x 43mm long (end of cable to tip of connector)
  • Support for DPCP (Display Port Content Protection)
  • DisplayPort D++ device with the ability to output DVI-D is required
  • Colour: Black with gold connectors

DisplayPort Compatibility Note

DisplayPort (DP) cables and adapters are not bi-directional, and require a DP output which is DP++ (Dual Mode) compatible. When a DisplayPort to DVI cable is connected to a DP++ (Dual-Mode) output, the output device senses the presence of the adapter cable and sends DVI signals over the DisplayPort connector rather than DisplayPort signals. No signal conversion is performed by the cable. DVI signals are merely passed through.

Product Review by Peter,
Start Quote I dropped into your store today and picked up the Display Port Male to DVI Female Adapter and connected it to my monitor and laptop. This works perfectly - the laptop recognises that this is a separate monitor, allowing me to choose the resolution I want (currently 1440 x 900) and also allows me to extend my desktop onto this screen too. There is no noticeable lag between the two external monitors (the other being hooked up to the laptop via the VGA connector port). So all in all very happy with this item - wouldn't have found it without your detailed specifications listed on the product description on your website. Start Quote

Understanding HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
Written on 11th Sept, 2024 by Cable Chick
You may have heard the letters HDCP strung together in an unpronounceable word before. Maybe you've seen it written on the back of the box containing your shiny new audio visual device. Possibly you've not been able to get your shiny new AV device to work and have been told "oh that sounds like a HDCP issue" and you've nodded your head feigning your understanding only to walk away from the conversation more confused than before. Well let's clear things up and take a look at what exactly those four mysterious letters actually mean.   [Read More]
Explained: Multi-Monitor Setups
Explained: Multi-Monitor Setups
Written on 26th June, 2024 by Cable Chick
These days, a single monitor setup almost feels like a punishment. The experience of constantly expanding and minimising windows to perform a simple task knowing how easy it would be with a second monitor is frankly archaic. So this must be what Marty McFly felt like in 1955. Now unless you're a masochist, it might be time to introduce your display to a friend or two and experience how much better things can be.   [Read More]
