DisplayPort is pretty clever. Without any extra adapters or converters, any DisplayPort DP++ socket can output a VGA signal for direct connection to an analog screen. This is great news when you need a new PC to connect to an older TV or monitor.
This cable allows this link to be completed without the need for wobbly adapters or extra hardware - it's already prewired to let DisplayPort do its thing and detect the VGA display all on its own. There's simply no easier way for leveraging the full functionality of your DP++ video output!

DisplayPort Compatibility Note
DisplayPort (DP) cables and adapters are not bi-directional, and require a DP output which is DP++ (Dual Mode) compatible. When a DisplayPort to VGA cable is connected to a DP++ (Dual-Mode) output, the output device senses the presence of the adapter cable and sends VGA signals over the DisplayPort connector rather than DisplayPort signals. No signal conversion is performed by the cable. VGA signals are merely passed through from the compatible source device.
