Adapts FROM a DisplayPort computer or laptop TO a VGA monitor/screen

DisplayPort is pretty clever. Without any extra adapters or converters, any DisplayPort DP++ socket can output a VGA signal for direct connection to an analog screen. This is great news when you need a new PC to connect to an older TV or monitor.

This cable allows this link to be completed without the need for wobbly adapters or extra hardware - it's already prewired to let DisplayPort do its thing and detect the VGA display all on its own. There's simply no easier way for leveraging the full functionality of your DP++ video output!

Product Specifications:

  • 5 year Cable Chick Warranty
  • Uni-directional, the DisplayPort must be the source device, not the display device!
  • 1m Male DisplayPort connector to Male VGA connector
  • Perfect for converting a D++ DisplayPort device for use with a VGA display
  • Gold plated connectors for optimal signal transfer
  • Supports VGA resolutions such as 800x600, 1600x1200, 1080p and many others.
  • 10.8 Gbps data peak transfer rate
  • Display Port DP++ device with the ability to output VGA is required
  • Colour: Black with gold connectors

DisplayPort Compatibility Note

DisplayPort (DP) cables and adapters are not bi-directional, and require a DP output which is DP++ (Dual Mode) compatible. When a DisplayPort to VGA cable is connected to a DP++ (Dual-Mode) output, the output device senses the presence of the adapter cable and sends VGA signals over the DisplayPort connector rather than DisplayPort signals. No signal conversion is performed by the cable. VGA signals are merely passed through from the compatible source device.

Product Review by Graeme,
Start Quote The DP3001 Display Port to VGA Cable purchased works like a charm. The cable itself is not one of those flimsy, cheap replace every couple of months types either, this one is quite solid and it's easy to see that some thought has gone into its manufacture. Highly recommend this one, and, if there is a Display Port to DVI cable from the same manufacturer, I'd be recommending that one as well. As always, shipping time and service from Cable Chick continues to rate very high. Start Quote

Understanding HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection)
Written on 11th Sept, 2024 by Cable Chick
You may have heard the letters HDCP strung together in an unpronounceable word before. Maybe you've seen it written on the back of the box containing your shiny new audio visual device. Possibly you've not been able to get your shiny new AV device to work and have been told "oh that sounds like a HDCP issue" and you've nodded your head feigning your understanding only to walk away from the conversation more confused than before. Well let's clear things up and take a look at what exactly those four mysterious letters actually mean.   [Read More]
Explained: Multi-Monitor Setups
Explained: Multi-Monitor Setups
Written on 26th June, 2024 by Cable Chick
These days, a single monitor setup almost feels like a punishment. The experience of constantly expanding and minimising windows to perform a simple task knowing how easy it would be with a second monitor is frankly archaic. So this must be what Marty McFly felt like in 1955. Now unless you're a masochist, it might be time to introduce your display to a friend or two and experience how much better things can be.   [Read More]
