A handy companion in the car, boat or office!
Whether you head out into the wilderness regularly or rarely, it's always a good idea to have redundant emergency supplies and gadgets which can get you out of a jam. To help keep all your eggs distributed among multiple baskets, this handy multifunctional gadget offers a variety of components which can make life a lot easier when your main gear is inoperable or inaccessible.
First and foremost, this device is a hand-cranked flashlight with enough oomph to light your path in the darkness (or find your candles in a power failure). Just 1 minute of hand cranking can give you 10 minutes or more of light on the brightest setting. At full charge, you'll get hours of illumination (4 hours for the bright light and 10 for the dim ones).
A small battery is also included, and you can keep it topped off via USB so you don't need to spend your life turning the handle. The battery can also offer some very basic USB charging to other devices, but with just 5V@0.4A it won't help with new model smartphones and is instead better used with low-power USB devices.
The AM/FM Radio feels like a bit of an afterthought, with no tuning readout or aerial. It may be helpful if turned to weather broadcasts for your region ahead of time, but reception isn't something you have much control over once on site. The radio speaker doubles as an emergency siren, which is definitely more helpful in a rescue situation. Again, hand-cranking for a minute can get these functions working in the short term, or for over an hour from a full battery.
In a pinch, this multipurpose gadget is great to have when you need it, and the dynamo crank means everything will be functional within a few minutes even if the battery is flat. The main on/off switch ensures it won't activate functions unnecessarily, and the bright yellow plastic housing makes it easier to find when you need it.
