Honestly, I can't see the need for screens to go beyond 8K resolutions at any point in the future. Even if you had a 100" monster of a TV in your home theatre room, 8K would be more than enough. To put things in perspective, this would be the same pixel density as having a 50" screen at 4K, and there's nothing to complain about there!
So with support for Dynamic HDR, HDCP 2.3 and pretty much every Dolby audio format, I just don't see what more could be needed in a 2-port device. Even ultra high refresh-rate gaming at 2K or 4K is supported. Now don't get me wrong, I'm sure they will release a HDMI 2.2 and 2.3 and so on... but I struggle to see what these new specifications will bring to the table beyond what this HDMI 2.1 8K switch can offer.
So when might you need this switch? Well the two main applications I can think of is anyone lucky enough to have an 8K TV at home. Secondly are gamers, either on the PS5, XBOX Series X or PC gamers, who want super-crisp 4K resolutions at those crazy smooth frame-rates. Beyond that, you just might like to dig a little deeper for a HDMI switch which future-proofs you against the tides of technology - ensuring you want to upgrade this little piece of tech in the foreseeable future!
On the HDMI Splitter side of things, whereever you might see the need to duplicate your HDMI content to a second screen, then this might be all the splitter you'll ever need. Perfect for meeting rooms and confrences where you might want a smaller local screen and a larger projector showing your presentation... or perhaps you do video streaming and need a way to send you signal off to a capture device... the use cases are only limited by your imagination and available tech-gadgetry :-)
Of course, you'll need a power source for such a powerful litte beast. However being USB-C powered gives you loads of flexibility as to where you get your power from.
HDMI 48GBps Data-Rates supporting up to 4320p (8K) Ultra HD @ 60Hz (4:4:4), Dynamic HDR and Dolby TrueHD are also supported, as well as many other HDMI v2.1 features such Deep Colour and more (hardware must also be compatible with these HDMI features).
Recommended for use with Avencore Crystal Series HDMI 2.1 Cables up to 2m length, or Avencore Carbon Series HDMI 2.1 Cables up to 5m length when running 8K or 4K/120Hz signals.
Please note: While using the "1 in 2 out" mode and outputting to two monitors, only one display will be active at a time.

For 8K/HDR content, Cable Chick recommends using the shortest, high-quality HDMI cables possible. Be sure to use only HDMI 2.1 specification cables with a total cable run of under 5 metres (on both sides of the switch) to ensure the best chance of supporting all HDMI features and resolutions.
