Avencore's Analog to Digital Audio Converter converts FROM a stereo analog audio source TO SPDIF digital audio outputs. With the included 2RCA stereo (male) to 3.5mm stereo (female) adapter cable, this converter accepts either 3.5mm stereo, or 2RCA stereo audio input, with simultaneous TOSLINK and Digital Coaxial (SPDIF) outputs. PLEASE NOTE: Adapter only supports 3-pole TRS stereo headphones. For 4-pole TRRS headphone support please see AVC-C5812.

Fortunately, Avencore have brought us this Analog to Digital Audio Converter which can get your new and old audio devices working harmoniously.
It'll take regular stereo audio (from L&R RCA or use the included 3.5mm adapter) and convert it to TOSLINK and Digital Coaxial output, allowing you to run old TVs on new amplifier systems. You won't believe how compact this package is! The converter has a digital sampling rate of 48 kHz and produces a digital LPCM stereo audio output signal. It is powered by a 5V DC power adapter, which is included.

Question:
Would this allow me to plug my old logitech 5.1 speakers (green black and orange pc cables) into my newer TV which has no audio outputs? I have a 2RCA to 3.5mm Y cable plugged into the black PC cable but the 2RCA has no outputs to plug into, so could I then plug the 2RCA into this and connect it to my TV which does have digital optical output. Thanks in advance?

"Computer speakers tend to use multiple pairs of 3.5mm stereo plugs for 5.1 audio, so while our Digital to Analogue converter will help connect your TV's optical output to the Logitechs, you will only have access to stereo audio (2.1 channel)."

Will this adapter work in reverse i.e. optical input to LR audio output?

"No, these converters are strictly one-way. However, the AVC-SP500 does the Digital to Analog conversion you are looking for."

Shall i get digital data stream through it???and store digital data from output side.....by applying analog input???

"You supply a stereo analog input (3.5mm or RCA) and the device outputs a SPDIF digital audio stream in real-time. This is not a storage/recording device. To record the digital output you will need a separate recording device."

Question:
Will I get 5.1 digital audio output from this device ? I want to use it to input 2RCA audio output from TV to digitical input into my home theatre system. My TV doesn't have any digital audio output port?
Answer:
"No. 2RCA can only provide stereo audio. Your home theatre system may have a configuration option to upmix stereo to use all speakers which may sound quite good, but it won't be 'proper' 5.1 unless your TV has an SPDIF option to use."

Question:
What sampling rate does it run at? 44.1kHz or 48kHz? Can it slave to the clock of another device or does it need to be the master clock for another other digital audio system?

"The output rate is 48kHz and the manual doesn't suggest this is variable in any way, so I would say it needs to be the master clock."

"Absolutely. However, this device doesn't have a preamp, so the signal from your turn table needs to output line level to work directly."
