SCART may be a European standard which was unleashed upon the Australian public (thanks Foxtel!), but this handy converter redresses past compatibility problems :)
Converts FROM a SCART source TO a HDMI display. Supports a SCART Composite signal in all NTSC and PAL formats, for conversion to 720p/1080p HDMI output. Both video and audio are supported from the SCART source.
Finally, a sensible solution to a common problem. This SCART to HDMI Converter does exactly as you'd expect, which is to convert the SCART audio & video output to HDMI. The audio and video signals from the SCART source are bundled together into the HDMI signal, so you can simply connect to any HDMI enabled TV. But that's not all (and no, I'm not about to offer 'Steak Knives'), this high quality converter will maximise your picture quality by generously upscaling the SCART video signal to 1080p (or 720p if desired).
As you'd expect, you are limited by the quality of your SCART source device, however the digital conversion and 1080p upscaling will ensure the best image quality possible is achieved.

Product Review by Bill,
CableChick, Thanks for your quick service and great innovative products.
I ordered four products in the afternoon of 20 January and they arrived in Canberra in the morning of 22 January. In fact, they arrived just in time to allow me to install a new TV. This was exception service, and I thank you for it.
Three of my purchases were hum-drum, but never-the-less important.
The fourth was essential to the installation of my new Smart TV. I needed to convert SCART output of our TransACT fibre optical cable TV service in Canberra, to a HDMI signal, if I still wanted to access their programs on the new TV. Well the SCART to HDMI Converter, named HD Video Processing, was put into operation within 15 minutes of arrival AND it worked extremely well. It was rather amazing, and its performance, in terms of ease of use and better picture quality, backs up your write-up of this product.
I strongly recommend this SCART to HDMI converter to anyone facing a similar "up-dating" problem!

Answer:
"Unfortunately not. This unit converts SCART devices to work on HDMI TVs, and does not go back the other way."

Question:
Hi, I have just updated from the foxtel IQ2 to the IQ3 but found the scart fitting from my old foxtel does not fit into the back of the new IQ3, so I need a female scart to reduce to a single cable of sorts to fit into the back of the IQ3 so I, cheers Kym?
Answer:
"Unfortunately the IQ3 does not offer a SCART output option, and our converter works in the wrong direction for your needs (it could Convert an older FOxtel Box to work on a newer TV< but not a new Foxtel box for an old TV).
This this case you will need to look at purchasing a TV that is compatible with Foxtel IQ3."

Question:
I have foxtel with two scart outputs (composite r w y)
can I connect to receive HD with the converter hdmi?
Answer:
"SCART can only support HD in Component Video (YPbPr) mode. Composite (Red/White/Yellow) is only capable of standard definition 576i maximum. So long as one or both of the SCART output supports Component YPbPr mode, you should get HD through this converter."
