Access hard drive data without the hassle of installing it in a PC

This lightweight and easy to use USB 3.0 to SATA Cable allows you to connect any SATA harddrive, both 2.5" and 3.5" drives + SDD drives, to your Windows or Mac computer. Once connected, the drive will appear just like a connected USB drive, ready to access the files directly over the 5Gbps USB 3.0 Super-Speed connection. SSD and 2.5" drives work simply from the USB to SATA Cable adapter itself, while larger 3.5" HDDs require the included power supply connection. Supports Desktop and Laptop sized hard drives including SSD (Solid State Drives) up to SATA III.

This adapter is the holy grail for anyone burdened with the task of rescuing old computers. It allows quick and simple access to any hard drive without the need to fiddle around with expensive caddies or taking the trouble to connect it to a motherboard - just plug it in like a big USB stick! For those with immense data storage requirements, this adapter is essential so you can have a store of external HDDs for unlimited storage, without needing to have them installed inside your PC.

For all internal 2.5" and 3.5" SATA hard drives from most PCs and Laptops, this cable basically turns them into USB flash drives. Just plug and play on any Windows OS between XP and 10 or on Mac OS X and the drive will pop up like any other mass storage device. Should also work on most other modern operating systems with USB Mass Storage support including Linux and Android (Fat32 formatted drives only).

Supports USB 2.0 and 3.0 for compatibility with all modern computers at the fastest speeds, and includes the requisite adapter cables to work with data and power for all common hard drive types. Supports FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS hard drives, too! It's a one-stop-shop for accessing data off old hard drives or performing mass backups when regular portable hard drives aren't readily available. Also a handy tool for simple data recovery attempts!

Includes a power pack for mains power since full-size 3.5" hard drives are too hungry for USB alone.

Features:

  • 12 Month Warranty!
  • 20cm USB 3.0 to SATA Adapter Cable
  • Supports 2.5" and 3.5" SATA HDDs (SATA II and SATA I Compatible)
  • Included power supply with Australian plug for 3.5" HDDs
  • Direct-to-drive SATA Data & Power Connection
  • No software required for modern OS's
  • Compatible with Windows 98/2000/Me/XP/Vista/7/8/10 plus Mac OS
  • Colour: Black

Please note: This device cannot circumvent NTFS drive encryption for accessing protected folders.

Question: Does this product work with a 3.5 inch Toshiba DT01ACA100 SATA 6.0Gb/s hard drive from a desktop machine? I know this product comes with a power supply for the 3.5 inch drive, but when I took the drive out of the (now no longer working) desktop there was a separate 2 pin power supply along with the 15/7 pin connector?
Answer: "Yes, this adapter kit works with all types of desktop HDDs and SSDs.

The 2-pin connector you're describing is generally used by the hard drive manufacturer for a diagnostic connection. If you know how to talk to it, you can get additional status information from the drive that you can’t get via SMART, such as temperature data. It is not a power input."
